The primary system of yoga taught at our studio is Unity Yoga™, which is a complete system based on Indian and Tibetan traditions and methods. Practice includes asanas (postures), pranayamas (breath and energy cultivating exercises, and the complete spectrum of concentration and meditation methods unique to Indian and Himalayan yoga.

Our Professional Teachers

Our Director of Yoga Studies, Yogini Mara Healy

All of our yoga teachers were either trained in the Balanced Unity Yoga School by Yogini Mara Healy, or in the Universal Yoga School, which she assisted and co-taught with Andrey Lappa for many years. She is currently our Director of Yoga Studies. This helps ensure consistency and authenticity in every class that we offer. Mara Healy was Andrey Lappa’s senior-most disciple in North America and a top practitioner of Universal Yoga. She is also highly-experienced in classical Ashtanga Vinyasa and other major systems of yoga. She leads Teacher Training programs, workshops and classes throughout The United States as well as right here at The Peaceful Dragon.

Each of our Unity yoga teachers brings an average of 20 years of experience in mind-body practices, and they continue to train regularly to improve their knowledge and skills both with Yogini Mara Healy and with The Peaceful Dragon’s director and head instructor, Master Eric Sbarge. Master Sbarge has almost 40 years of experience in the practice and teaching of Eastern art forms including Shaolin yoga, Zen meditation, qigong, tai chi, and Shaolin kung fu. He has written for numerous publications on topics including Shaolin philosophy, history, methods and techniques, and in 2005 he was inducted into The United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame as Outstanding Kung Fu Master.

An additional unique benefit of becoming a Yoga student at The Peaceful Dragon is that you can complement your yoga studies with classes in tai chi, qigong, Zen meditation and even kung fu. Here is more information on these adult martial arts programs.

From our beautiful 10,000 square-foot custom building set on 12 wooded acres to our expansive curriculum and roster of dedicated and experienced teaching professionals, everything is designed to give you the most enjoyable, effective and beneficial learning experience possible.

Located right in Charlotte, The Peaceful Dragon offers a mini-oasis where you can come and relax and let go of the stresses of the outside world while you learn to explore your inner world.
